English 9-2, Tuesday, September 25, 2018

Today, I am away. Please be respectful and work quietly. The day will go as follows.
 
1. Silent Reading (shhhhhhhh!)

2. Grammar sheet on Capitals.  (Let's see if you know your stuff! Mark in class together)

2. Reading the rest of Paranoia (link) (There are a few students who will like to read aloud).
The paragraph should start with this: “Just you wait,” he said to the man in the light hat, and started for the policeman. Halfway to the policeman he began to wonder again: what did he have to report?

3. Writing:Today, we will write a character analysis on Mr. Beresford from Shirley Jackson's short story, "Paranoia."

Question: What kind of Character is Mr. Beresford? What character traits does he have that support this?  What evidence from the short story can you find that demonstrates this?

a) format: Name, Class and date in the top right hand corner.  Then the title centered. Then indent your paragraph. Be sure to space 1.5.

b) topic sentence: Mr. Beresford is a dynamic character because he ......

c) Pre-writing:  find evidence from the story to support your topic.  Some traits that support this are...... evidence from the story to support this is.....
