Lesson: Post War Canada
Post-WWII
Canadian society was one of prosperity as veterans returned home to a
hero's welcome, the economy was in full gear and jobs were plentiful.
Many soldiers returned with war brides. Immigrants from war-torn Europe
decided to make Canada home. The future looked bright and parents
decided to have numerous children. Crowded cities saw suburbs pop up
overnight. New and exciting products such as the television were
available. The automobile was a growing fad and the tourism industry
took off. Life was great!! Boomers enjoyed their teenage years and then
used their demographic power to push for political and social changes
in the 60's and 70's. The middle-aged boomers settled down in the 80's
and 90's and now the boomers are ageing and looking forward to their
retirement years.
