 Copyright and Picture Essays. This is due at the beginning of Wednesday's class

Today we will learn about copyright (understanding copyright and digital citizenship is part of the curricular outcomes of Info Tech 10/11/12)  That is what people legally own. It is also known as intellectual property. That is if you made it you own it. Many of the things we use online are not free and are in fact owned by someone. Usually the person that took the picture or wrote the song.

Your next assignment, you will post picture(s) in a single post or picture(s) with text.  To do this you must choose a picture (or pictures) from the internet and use it to tell a story.  The image(s)/picture(s) you choose should tell a story without needing text to provide an explanation, you may choose to add text as well which is okay, so long as it’s minimal. Create a page in your Weebly to show case your work.  It can stand alone or be a sub-page of "what makes me unique"

Go to Google images, then click:·         search tools, then·         usage rights, and finally·         labeled for reuse  (Now Google will only search for images that you are allowed to use)Alternatively, you may use one of the Creative Commons image search engines such as:

• Behold,
• FlickrCC, or
• Compfight

Remember to give attribution for the images you use because we always give credit where it is due!  If it’s not our own original work, it must be ‘attributed’ to the appropriate ‘creator’!  An attribution should be in the form of a link or hyperlink to the URL noted below each picture you choose to use.  There are two options for you to use to complete this assignment:

First, you can either choose to use only 1 image and add a post that explains the story behind the picture

OR·         Alternatively, you can choose a minimum of five (5) images/pictures that you can place in sequence to tell a story.  If you choose this option, there could be no writing in this post other than your own original picture story title and an attribution underneath each photo.

Have fun and be creative with this assignment.  Choose a pictures that evoke a mood, a sense of danger or excitement for example. Think of how a picture might affect the viewers 5 senses!Check out these blogs for examples of quality Picture Stories – they all look great but none have attributed the pictures they used!!! Don’t make that mistake!!!
