Homework: Things are starting to pile up - don't let this happen- it is your responsibility, not mine, to ensure you get your work done on time and handed in.  Please read and take notes from 37-47 (this week). Be ready to discuss R. v, Oakes next class (ending at page 40). This weeks assignment: Thesis and intro due Friday.

Today, we will begin our look into the Charter. But First.....
    • Our reaction to the Coulton Boushie case.
    • Did justice fail Coulton and if so how?
    • How was Gerald Stanley's verdict fair - or not?
    • If this case was to be argued with the charter- on what basis would it be argued?
An article to assist your thinking on this issue:  Ending Peremptory Challenges in Jury Selection is a good first step.
* Peremptory Challenges are defined in Chapter 6: Page 192
Agenda 2 and the Trescott  Case need to be finished and ready for marking.

 Discussion on Note taking:
  •  not a list of definitions.
  • what are the most important points being made?
  • Be succinct  - summaries should summaries main ideas.  What is being discussed?
  • ie.  the history section: how have said laws influenced law today? Why is it significant to understand the history?
